Thankful at Valentine's

Posted in Uncategorized at 10:42 am by Azee Sibal

It's Valentine's. Since I don't have a special someone, I will just go through the rounds of the day: work, meet some people from the church, then probably go home early to avoid the traffic that the occassion may entail. I also plan to buy some flowers for my parents and sister. I just hope I can find a shop that won't leave me more broke than I already am. Haha!

I feel blessed because I grew up in a household that is full of love. Dad and Mom and my cute siblings (the cute-I-want-to-strangle-you type. kidding!), many thanks! Also to all the others who showed their love in some way or another, many thanks as well!

Let me share with you two of the verses that were shared to us last Sunday at church. First is one of the most, if not the most, familiar verse in the Bible: John 3:16:

“For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
Second is Romans 8:38-39:

38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
I believe in an all-powerful God who has the ability to do anything. I also believe that that same God came to earth, died, and rose from the dead, to give mankind that chance to be reconciled with Him again. The God of all became a baby, unable to speak or take care of himself. Then He grew up to be a man who knew of his death and the fashion in which it was to take place. He went through that all for mankind. I feel humbled and very thankful for such grace that He showed us.

Looking back at everything that happened in my life, I am made aware of my share of difficulties. But I am just thankful for everything that He gave me. I pray for practically everything. From the small prayers of being spared the penalties of missing a specific deadline or just being able to get a cab, to the more serious ones like the safety of my love ones or deliverance from a grave problem, I feel that He hasn't let me down yet. He was always there. I disappoint Him a lot of times, sometimes to a great degree, but yet I still enjoy a loving family, a good job, nice people to relate to, and many more. I am truly blessed. And I am terribly humbled and thankful.

Lastly then, I give you my thanks, God, for your love. Allow me to love You the way that I should.

Happy Valentine's everyone!
